Did you know that fixed braces can correct a wider range of alignment concerns than many people realise? From crowded or gapped teeth to more complex bite issues, fixed braces offer a reliable and highly effective route to a straighter smile.

What are fixed braces?

A clinically proven solution for straighter teeth.

Fixed braces use small brackets bonded to your teeth, connected by a thin wire. The wire applies gentle, controlled pressure to gradually move your teeth into their ideal position over time.

How fixed braces work

Simple, effective and carefully controlled from start to finish.

Each bracket is precisely positioned and bonded to your tooth, then connected with a thin wire. As the wire applies steady pressure, your teeth slowly move into their planned position. Adjustment appointments every few weeks ensure your treatment stays on track.

Most fixed brace treatments take between twelve and twenty-four months, depending on complexity.

Your fixed braces journey

From your first consultation to your final result — we are with you every step.

Consultation and treatment planning.

Your journey begins with a thorough examination of your teeth and a discussion of your alignment goals. We'll take digital scans and X-rays, then put together a bespoke treatment plan with the estimated treatment time and full cost details.

Fitting your braces.

Once your treatment plan is in place, we will invite you in to have your fixed braces fitted. The brackets are carefully bonded to your teeth and the wire is threaded into position. We will show you how to clean around your braces effectively.

Adjustment appointments.

Every four to six weeks, we will invite you in for a short adjustment appointment. These visits allow us to monitor your progress, tighten or change your wire and ensure your treatment is on track.

Maintain your beautiful new smile.

When your treatment is complete, your braces will be removed and you will be able to see your new smile for the first time. To protect your results, we will provide you with a retainer to wear after treatment.

Frequently asked questions about fixed braces

Are fixed braces better than Invisalign?

Fixed braces and Invisalign are both effective orthodontic treatments — the right choice depends entirely on your individual needs. Fixed braces are often recommended for more complex cases, while Invisalign suits patients looking for a discreet, removable option.

How long will my fixed brace treatment take?

Are fixed braces better than Invisalign?

Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of your case. Most patients complete their treatment within twelve to twenty-four months. Book an initial consultation for a personalised treatment time estimate.

Do fixed braces hurt?

It is common to experience some tenderness in the first few days after your braces are fitted or adjusted, as your teeth begin to move. This is completely normal and usually settles quickly. Over-the-counter pain relief and eating soft foods can help manage any initial discomfort.

Will fixed braces affect what I can eat?

Yes — hard, sticky or chewy foods can damage your brackets or wires, so we recommend avoiding things like hard sweets, chewing gum and crusty bread. We will provide a full list of guidance at your fitting appointment.
