What Our Patients Say

So incredibly grateful to this dentist. Neil is an extremely polite and informative dentist and I felt extremely looked after and was informed every step of the way from the entire team. Amazing dentist. Would give 10 stars if I could.
Excellent appointment. Really great approach with children, took time to explain and discuss.
I have been attending Skircoat Green Dental Practice (along with my husband and two sons), for a number of years now and I can highly recommend them. We are all really happy with Bilal, our new dentist. He quicky put us all at ease during our appointments yesterday, and was great with my son who has dyspraxia and a really strong gag reflex. He listened, and offered great tips and advice. Our teeth have never been so good!
Walking into Skircoat Dental Clinic honestly felt comforting from the start. Jessica greeted me at the entrance with such warmth that it felt like stepping into a family space rather than a typical clinic-indeed, the whole place has that welcoming vibe. They were completely honest with me, telling me straight away that I didn’t have cavities, which I really appreciated. No exaggeration, no pressure-just genuine transparency. Dr. Reem was my dentist, and she is truly something special. She has such a kind, loving, beautiful spirit, and she treats you with so much patience and care , and knowledgeable. She explained everything calmly, made sure I felt comfortable, and you can tell she really cares about her patients. She cleaned my calcium build‑up beautifully, and the gum examination was so thorough. I left with real, helpful advice that I can actually use. Overall, the whole team made me feel safe, respected, and cared for. It’s warm, honest, and family‑like-a place where you feel valued, not rushed.
Emma Whiteley has saved my gums . I had treatment in Turkey and they left cement around my gum line making it impossible to clean . Emma and her nurse removed the cement and I can now floss between every tooth 🦷. Amazing 🌟 💫 ⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️.
Such great service from Reem & the team at Skircoat Green Dental. I was very nervous about having my first local anesthetic for a filling but Reem out me at ease with her kind manner and lovely humour. A very positive experience, thank you!
Bilal and Karen always greet you with a smile and ask how things are not just about your teeth but about you has a person which I think puts you at ease when visiting.
Excellent Reem and Karen looked after me as previously and it was pleasure. Knowledge based practice..
Super service, professionalism at the highest level and lovely people. Hats off to Sahdia and Jenny also the rest of the team.
Going to the dentist isn’t usually pleasurable, but Skircoat make it so. From how friendly Reception are through to the experience in the chair. Thank you as always.
Bilal and Jenny were great as per usual
Dr Bilal and the Skircoat Green Practice team have always been wonderful and caring every time I have an appointment, when I had to cancel and move appointments if needed for emergency, they have always been understanding and considerate. I always recommend this dental practice in Halifax, West Yorkshire. I have now completed my Invisalign treatment and teeth whitening. I am over the moon with my results and I feel more confident now with my smile. Dr Bilal, Jenny, Karen, Jana and Jess have been fantastic, caring and supportive. I would recommend the best dentist in the UK. Couldn’t ask for a better dentist.
It is aways a pleasant experience going for my appointment with Reem. I am so glad that I joined this efficient and welcoming practice. Thank you
First class dental service from Bilal and Karen and other staff members ie reception staff. Bilal and Karen put you at ease, no rushing of service, all questions answered by Bilal and Karen which for me is important to maintaining good dental hygiene. For those looking for a dentist practice, look no further than Skircoat Green Dental Practice.
Nice people, if you’re dentaphobic like me, it’s great to have a relaxed friendly environment.
Bilal and Jenny have been great on my teeth whitening journey. I've had stain removal and boutique whitening and I don't even recognise my teeth, they look so good. Would 100% recommend!
Neil has been our dentist for several years and we have both always received kindness, friendliness and excellent treatment from him. His staff are always polite and helpful which makes any visit pleasant. Today was enjoyable as I remarked on how much I enjoyed the pictures on the large monitor on the surgery wall. They are quite amazing and show real artistry. Thank you for that as well as the expert dentistry.
I had an amazing experience with Reem, my dentist, and I can’t recommend her highly enough! From the moment I walked in, she made me feel completely at ease with her warm and friendly approach. She is incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about what she does. Reem took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I was comfortable and informed throughout my appointment. Her gentle technique and precision made the whole process painless and stress-free. It’s rare to find a dentist who combines such skill with genuine care for her patients. The results exceeded my expectations, and I left feeling confident and well looked after. If you’re looking for a dentist who truly goes above and beyond, Reem is the one. Very friendly reception staff too. Price wise, incredibly addordable. I was able to spread the cost of clear correct over 12 months which was a massive help.
I had a brilliant experience with Bilal and Jenny —they were incredibly supportive and informative throughout. The clean and polish was excellent, and I followed it up with some teeth whitening, which was just as brilliant. Couldn’t be happier!

Lovely and friendly. Would recommend.
Just had my 5th check up with Bilal & Jenny after 2 years being with the practice. Really good as usual, I came to them after a long time not seeing a dentist (30 years +!) and there was no judgement whatsoever and I needn’t have worried. If in doubt or embarrassed about how long you’ve not seen a dentist I wouldn’t be, these guys will look after you.
Because of a previous medical condition affecting my face I am nervous of visiting the dentist but I broke a tooth so it had to be done. I had already decided to move away from my previous (NHS) dentist because of the perfunctory service I’d experienced in the past few years, where I felt like they couldn’t turn patients round fast enough. I followed the great reviews to Skircoat where I was quickly given an appointment with Neill. My first consultation was really thorough and everything was explained very clearly. Neill cleaned my teeth and went through my x-rays with me. Obviously it was more expensive than an NHS treatment but it was honestly worth it, more so because it was all pain-free. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Skircoat Green Dental Surgery.
ABSOLUTELY T H E best Dentist experience I have EVER had. From childhood trauma that has never left me in over 50 years these two visits across two days , I think, will get me over any trauma I may have had. Neil was a very professional, kind, considerate and gentle dentist who handled a very scared me absolutely perfectly. I hadn't been to any dentist since lockdown ( simply too petrified) but due to an intermittent chronic toothache across a few months something had to be done. I felt NO PAIN whatsoever ( even the 2 x dreaded injections weren't even a scratch !!!! ) and the extraction was done without me realising it had happened. I WILL go back to see Neil and his team and I'm so much happier now knowing my teeth are in the best, really...the BEST of hands. Superb Dental Nurse Oliver and also a very sympathetic and polite blonde receptionist ( sorry, didn't get your name ) who was also a credit to this business.
The whole team are fantastic. All are friendly, professional and make you feel completely at ease from the moment you walk in. The treatments are explained clearly and everything is done with great care. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients. Highly recommend.
Wonderful dentist! Treat you well from the reception staff, dental nurses and the dentist herself. Excellent care at a reasonable price. Was recommended to me and can't recommend them enough.

What could be causing my bad breath?

There are multiple factors that can contribute to bad breath, also referred to as halitosis. One of the most common causes is poor oral hygiene. Simply brushing and flossing your teeth more often or cleaning your tongue can help improve your breath. There are, however, other causes of halitosis that cannot be remedied with oral hygiene, alone. These include: respiratory infections, decayed teeth, gum disease, digestive issues, and certain metabolic health conditions. Visit a dentist or a physician for a check-up if your breath odour does not improve as bad breath can be a sign of a health problem.

Is root canal treatment painful?

No, it does not hurt to get root canal treatment. At our practice in Halifax, we carefully administer local anaesthesia to the treatment area beforehand to ensure that you do not feel a thing. Most conditions that necessitate root canal treatment are painful, but the treatment itself is meant to soothe pain—not cause it—by relieving pressure and removing inflamed or infected tooth nerves.

Do I need a dental filling or a crown?

A dental filling is ideal in situations where a tooth sustains only a small amount of damage. You may need a filling if you have chipped a tooth or if you have a small cavity. A dental crown, on the other hand, is best for teeth that have extensive structural damage or that need to be completely covered to improve the aesthetics. By visiting a dentist to have your tooth examined, you can find out whether a dental crown or a filling is the right restoration for your tooth.

Why are my teeth yellow?

Yellow teeth are a common result of the natural ageing process. The inner layer of your teeth contains dark yellow pigment, and this is surrounded by layers of enamel. The enamel makes your teeth appear white, so as the enamel layer wears away over time, the dark yellow layer inside the tooth is exposed. Yellow-coloured teeth can also be caused by smoking or a diet high in foods that contain dark pigments. Teeth whitening is an excellent way to lighten your tooth colour and take years off your smile. It is important to note, however, that some at-home teeth whitening treatments can actually turn your teeth yellow as they damage the enamel of your teeth. This is why it is essential to see a dentist for professional teeth whitening treatment.

Dental implants

The next best thing after natural teeth.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth which consists of a metal post and a restoration such as a dental crown. The metal post acts like a natural tooth root, and an implant dentist carefully places this post into the bone where your natural tooth used to be. Once the post integrates with the surrounding bone tissue, it is ready to support a restoration and interact with the rest of your teeth when you bite and eat. The metal portion of the implant is not visible, but the restoration is visible and helps fill in the gap in your smile.

Will it hurt to get a dental implant?

No, the dental implant placement process will not hurt. This is because we place dental implants after administering local anaesthesia to numb the treatment site. Thus, getting an implant feels similar to getting a routine dental filling.

How long will my dental implant last?

Although there is no guaranteed lifespan for dental implants, the treatment is a remarkably predictable and successful one. Most people who receive one or more implants are able to enjoy them for many years. Provided you can clean your implant daily and keep the gums around your dental implant healthy, you should be able to enjoy your restoration for many years.

Is a dental implant right for me?

A dental implant is often an excellent tooth replacement option for anyone because implants are durable, non-removable and easy to care for. Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, however, because of certain pre existing health conditions or mouth conditions. Inadequate amounts of bone may be solved through procedures such as bone grafting. To find out whether dental implants are right for your individual dental health needs, schedule a consultation with an implant practice near you.

How much experience do you have placing dental implants?

Here at Skircoat Green Dental Practice in Halifax, Principal Dentist Dr Neill Wood has over two decades of extensive experience in a variety of dental treatments, including the placement of dental implants. His curriculum vitae includes experience in oral surgery, and he has a Master’s degree in dental implantology from the University of Salford at distinction level.

Invisalign

The discreet way to straighten your smile.

Are Invisalign aligners really invisible?

When you are wearing your Invisalign aligners, no one would ever notice unless you told them. The material used in these aligners is transparent so that the aligners do not obscure the appearance of your natural teeth. This is one reason Invisalign treatment is a popular orthodontic treatment option for adults and teenagers who wish to keep their treatment private.

How long do I have to wear Invisalign aligners?

Your Invisalign treatment plan will be personalised to your unique treatment needs. If you have a very mild case, then your treatment may be complete in as little as six months. If you need to correct the position of many teeth, however, then you may need to wear your aligners for a year or more. Be sure to wear your upper and lower aligners for no less than 22 hours per day to ensure that your teeth move according to schedule.

Can I get Invisalign instead of braces?

Invisalign and braces are both effective methods for correcting teeth alignment, but you will have to visit an orthodontist or Invisalign dentist in person to find out which method is best for you. Traditional braces straighten teeth using a fixed system of metal brackets and wires. Invisalign clear aligners are removable and contain no metal parts.

Is Invisalign expensive?

Invisalign can actually be surprisingly affordable. The cost of Invisalign is comparable to that of traditional orthodontic treatment. Whether you straighten your teeth with braces or clear aligners, your treatment requires strategic planning and an in-depth understanding of how your teeth move. Orthodontic treatment is priced in accordance with the cost of treatment materials and the extensive training and experience that go into developing your treatment plan. Our Halifax practice offers finance options that can help you afford treatment with Invisalign.

Does Invisalign work for kids?

Yes, Invisalign can be an excellent orthodontic treatment option for teenagers and children as well as adults. However, some children may struggle to wear their clear aligners for the minimum required amount of time each day. It is best to consult directly with an Invisalign dentist to find out whether Invisalign is right for your child.

How to afford your care

Flexible financing for the dental care you deserve.

What should I do if I can’t afford dental treatment?

We know that a bill for dental treatment can sometimes come at an unexpected time. The good news is that you do not have to let your finances determine your access to the dental care you need. We are pleased to provide finance plans that help you to break down the cost of your care into manageable monthly payments.

How much does your dental plan cost?

At present, our in-house dental plan costs £21.20 per month for adults and £9 per month for children. This provides you with two oral health reviews and two standard hygiene appointments per year, and also entitles you to a 10% discount on general dental treatment plans.

How much does a dental hygiene clean cost?

As a new patient, your first visit with us will include a standard hygiene appointment, digital dental X-rays, and a comprehensive dental examination; all for £130. Patients who are diagnosed with periodontal disease will require further treatment for this at a cost starting from £139. Patients who join our dental plan (£21.20 per month for adults and £9 per month for children) will receive two standard hygiene appointments per year.

Can DIY dental treatments help me save money?

It is tempting to perform cosmetic or restorative dental repairs on your own, but doing so is almost guaranteed to cost you more money in the long run. This is because it is all too easy to cause permanent damage to your teeth when you cannot clearly see what you are doing. A qualified dentist with accurate and modern diagnostic tools can accurately evaluate your teeth to determine the healthiest, safest and most cost-effective way to repair them. We recommend you check with us before attempting a DIY repair that you may later regret.

Can I just choose the cheaper of two dental treatment options?

After you have had your mouth examined by the dentist, he or she will let you know which treatment will work best for you. In some cases, a more affordable alternative is available. You certainly have the right to choose the treatment that fits your lifestyle, budget and personal preference. We will not pressure you to accept any treatment if there is a viable alternative that you prefer. Bear in mind, however, that cost should not be the most important factor. Before you select a treatment, we encourage you to carefully consider whether it will prove to be the best investment for you in the long term.
